Fortunately spiritual practices are slowly but steadily becoming mainstream on planet Earth these days. Below you will find a list of basic spiritual practices which I cannot recommend enough. All of them are healing our physical, mental, emotional and energy bodies on deep levels that we just start to understand. (I will do my best to write and link more in-depth blog entries on them.)
Nature
Wherever you live, try to get out and connect with nature as often as you can. (If you have a dog you need to walk – thank it.) May it be a forest, a beach, a field or a city park, or if you’re lucky your own garden. Try to walk or at least touch the ground with your bare feet whenever possible – that is the best grounding method. If it’s too cold you can touch the ground with your hands or hug a tree. If you garden or pot plants you may want to touch the soil with your bare hands – your hands and nails will get dirty but it is highly therapeutical. If you are bed or home ridden, try to surround yourself with plants and/or animals. You may also listen to nature recordings and watch nature films. Watching sunrise, sunset and stargazing are also great.
Meditation
Meditation is probably the greatest spiritual tool available to humans. It is free and available to everyone, everywhere. I strongly believe that everyone can find perfect meditation for them. I encourage you to try different types of meditation, and also to try the new ones whenever you feel guided to. Here is a short and non-exhaustive list of different meditation characteristics:
Alone – group meditation
Silent meditation – guided meditation – meditation with mantra – meditation with sound/music
Sitting – lying down – meditation in movement
Meditation with open eyes – meditation with eyes closed
Meditation at home – in dojo – in nature
Meditation with an intention
Gratitude
Paradoxically gratitude practice is a great tool especially when you deal with depression or you are not happy with your life. If everything goes well, we automatically feel grateful; whereas in more challenging times we need to make a conscious choice to be grateful and stick to it, which converts an emotion into spiritual practice. I recommend making a list or multiple lists daily. For example – you may start with 3-5 things/people you are grateful for, and write them down. The next day you create another list with new items. Or you may make it a challenge and try to list as many things you are grateful for as you can, and then try to beat your own record on another occasion. Sometimes when we are really down, we feel like there is nothing to be grateful for – I recommend starting with basics – a roof over our head, a nice weather of food we get to eat, and then gradually building our way up. Like with any exercise or practice – the more we do it the easier it gets and the better we become at it. And with time and practice not only do we change our mindset and start to feel better but we also start to manifest a new, more desirable reality.
Talking to your spiritual support team
Talking to your spiritual support team also known as prayer is one of the oldest spiritual practices known to the human race.Who are they? It is an umbrella term I use for our Higher Self, guardian angel, spiritual guides and other beings of love and light who are here to help us ascend. Even if you cannot see or hear your spiritual support team, they are always there for you. We can always ask them for help and guidance – it is just a question of doing it from the place of love and trust, and not fear or despair. Since humans have free will our spiritual support team cannot help us unless we ask.
Hello!
I’m just wondering about our spiritual team and they won’t help until asked ..so all this time I thought maybe my guides were helping me out of sticky situations or making me run late to avoid an accident etc but they actually weren’t?🥴. Until I ask? But then it’s too late.
Sorry I’m confused. I have heard this before…that your guides won’t help until asked but I don’t want to believe it.
Thank you!
Wendy S
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Wendy. I said that they don’t help unless we ask, because people have free will – for example our guides and angels won’t stop us when we do something harmful to ourselves or others, because they have to respect our free will. Still sometimes they can intervene – especially if it’s a question of life and death and our soul contract doesn’t foresee our death at this time. We also need to remember that they don’t operate in a linear time – so for them it’s never “too late”, and everything is happening at once. Moreover, sometimes we may not remember asking for their help. Let me give you a personal example – when I was a little girl my granny taught to pray to my guardian angel and I did it for a few years before going to sleep. And then I forgot about it for about for about 30 years. And when I started to talk to my guardian angel again I realized that it was always with me – protecting exactly as I ask it to. Hope that helps. Love and blessings!
